Connor McNicholas' work explores the relationship between humanity's origins and its potential trajectories through a pluralistic inquiry into cultural and social constructs.

Their use of diverse materials and practices deny an authorial signature and range from those rooted in human tradition such as found text and photographs, to altered ready-mades and installation, and contemporary technologies like 3D animation software and electronic audio equipment.

The resultant exhibitions resist simple categorization and serve as abstract frameworks that intertwine these various material and temporal loops to reveal a constellation of personal and universal histories.

Connor McNicholas (b. 1990, Oakland, New Jersey) holds an MFA from ICP-Bard, New York, New York (2015) and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Recent solo exhibitions include Where Remote Futures Meet Remote Pasts at M23, New York, New York (2020), The Shape of Time at Super Dakota, Brussels, Belgium (2019). Their work has been exhibited at Andersen’s in Copenhagen, Denmark; Annarumma, Naples, Italy; Berthold Pott, Cologne, Germany; Sharp Projects, Copenhagen, Denmark; Jacob Bjorn, Aarhus, Denmark; Tobias Naehring, Leipzig, Germany; Center of Contemporary Art, Tbilisi, Tbilisi, Georgia; and The International Center of Photography, New York, New York.
